Right at the death, Tigres were knocked out of the Leagues Cup with Rayados, their staunch rival, delivering the killer blow. For Tigres coach Robert Dante Siboldi, it could not have been a much more painful way to exit the tournament, but he is not one to dwell on disappointments and is focusing on what is to come, the restart of the Liga MX.
“It hurts, of course it hurts and we had expected to mke the next round,” Siboldi said afterwards. “We faced a very good rival, and it was our turn to lose but we are very proud of the attitude and the dedication of the players. We are a team and when we win, we all win together and when we lose, we all lose together. In that aspect, we are calm. Without any doubt, not being able to continue in the tournament, which was our objective, really hurts. But now we have the league to focus on and we are going to prepare for what follows, which is also very important”.

Penalty decision
Without wanting to go into much detail about the move that led to their elimination – a penalty, seven minutes into stoppage-time, Siboldi said that he had his doubts that there was enough contact to award a penalty. “I am left with the feeling that the penalty was very doubtful in my opinion, but I don’t want to comment on that aspect because I never do, neither when we win nor when we lose. You can take a look at the replay and judge for yourself. I have watched the television images from a few angles and for me, it’s a soccer move, nothing else. If the referee decides otherwise, well, we have to abide by the referee’s decisions and respect them and move on,” he said.

After the 132nd edition of the Clásico Regio, Tigres were waiting on medical reports for two of their players down. “Angulo is suffering fatigue – it’s tiredness, the accumulation of games, travel and everything that goes with participating and competing in this tournament. Thank God it’s nothing serious, luckily none of the players have anything serious,” the coach explained.
