Michael Cawley and Zillah Byng-Thorne to step down from Flutter board

BoardAbstract

Cawley has opted to not seek re-election at this year’s annual general meeting (AGM) to be held on 28 April, while Byng-Thorne has said she will step down before 2023’s AGM.

Both directors have a long history at Flutter, having served in their respective roles for almost a decade, and their presence will undoubtedly be missed. Their departure will see the Irish gaming giant’s 14-person board reduced to 12, led by Gary McGann, who has served as Chairman since 2015.

“I wish to take this opportunity to thank Michael and Zillah for their exceptional contribution to the board over the past nine years,” remarked McGann.

“We wish Michael well for the future and I look forward to continuing to work with Zillah during her remaining term as a director.”

During her tenure at Flutter, Byng-Thorne has also served as the CEO of Future Plc, a British media company founded in 1985, and continues to hold this position.

Cawley, meanwhile, is the Chairman of online booking platform Hostelworld Group, as well as a Non-Executive Director of Kingspan Group and Ryanair Holdings.

After this year’s AGM concludes, Holly Keller Koeppel will replace Cawley as the Chair of Flutter’s Audit Committee. Dave Lazzarato will take over from Byng-Thorne as the Chair of the Risk and Sustainability Committee, though she will remain a member.

This news comes not long after Flutter opened a new global headquarters in Clonskeagh, Dublin.
