Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has appointed Sam Ullrich as VP of Investor Relations. In this role, Ullrich will manage all aspects of investor relations, working closely with current and prospective shareholders and analysts.

Ullrich brings 15 years of financial experience with publicly traded companies. Before joining CDI, he was the Director of Commercial and Financial Planning at Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporation (KFC), a subsidiary of YUM! Brands.

He started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the Assurance practice in Louisville, Kentucky.

Ullrich has held various finance and accounting positions at both KFC and YUM, eventually becoming KFC US Interim CFO in October 2022. He managed financial operations for a brand worth approximately $5bn with around 4,000 restaurants across the country.

Ullrich graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration in Finance and is a Certified Public Accountant in Kentucky.

Earlier this month, CDI opened the Terre Haute Casino Resort in Indiana, a 400,000 square foot facility featuring a 122-room luxury hotel, an event centre and a casino floor with 1,000 slot machines, 36 table games and a sportsbook.

The development created 1,000 construction jobs and now provides approximately 550 full-time and part-time positions, contributing to regional economic growth.

In addition, CDI secured a partnership with Sports Illustrated at the beginning of the year, which includes exclusive multi-year naming rights for a new dining experience at the Kentucky Derby.
