Grant’s decision to relinquish the top job comes ahead of a planned career break. He wants to spend more time with his family after having worked for over 20 years in iGaming.

Taking over from Grant is Brown, a newcomer to the business who will join Flutter in September. The executive previously served as CEO for Booking.com’s Trips division, which includes Rentalcars.com.

The outgoing and incoming CEOs will work together to ensure a smooth transition, Flutter said. The group’s overall Chief Executive, Peter Jackson, thanked Grant and gave a warm welcome to Brown.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Conor and will personally miss his sound commercial judgement and keen eye for business opportunities. I’m sorry to see him leave but wish him well for the future,” Jackson said.

“I am delighted to welcome a leader of Ian’s calibre to our executive team. He brings with him broad experience leading online businesses from a range of sectors, including travel, hospitality, business services and financial services.”

When he succeeds Grant later this year, Brown will assume responsibility for Flutter’s Paddy Power, Sky Betting and Gaming, Betfair and Tombola brands in the UK and Ireland.

Regarding his appointment, Brown commented: “Flutter has a fantastic portfolio of iconic brands and I look forward to helping develop their leadership position in the online entertainment space.”

Grant, meanwhile, wished his successor well and bid Flutter a fond farewell. He said: “Flutter’s market-leading brands, talented team and approach to safer gambling are what sets the business apart.

“I have no doubt that the business is in good hands, and I look forward to seeing it continue to grow sustainably and responsibly into the future.”
