Genius Sports, a data, technology and broadcast company, has extended its partnership with Football DataCo to become the exclusive low-latency live data supplier for three UK football leagues.

These are the English Premier League (EPL), English Football League (EFL) and Scottish Profession Football League (SPFL), and the deal will run until the end of the 2024-2025 football season.

As the Official Tracking Data and Analytics Partner for the EPL, Genius Sports has already installed AI-powered tracking systems in a number of Championship stadiums.

With the partnership extending to additional leagues, Genius Sports will install the systems into the remaining Championship grounds, to provide data coverage for Sky Bet EFL Championship and Championship Play-Off matches.

Adrian Ford, General Manager of Football DataCo, said: “Genius Sports and Second Spectrum continue to generate first-class data and provide innovative solutions for a variety of Football DataCo’s stakeholders.

“The technology is improving all the time, extending the creative use of data to improve the presentation of English and Scottish football.”

The Second Spectrum software provides teams and coaches with real-time on-pitch data, such as shot velocity, player speed and positional data.

Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports, said: “The Premier League is the most popular league in world sport and Genius Sports has created the fastest, most accurate and secure feed on UK football to power first-class products for sportsbooks around the world.

“We are delighted to extend our partnership to continue to power innovation and now to expand it to include our suite of AI-powered Second Spectrum Tracking Data technology for the EFL Championship as well as the Premier League.”

Yesterday, Genius Sport announced an expanded partnership with the German Football Association, to tackle the threats of match-fixing and betting-related misconduct.
