PointsBet Canada, a regional division of the sportsbook operator, has renewed its bracket challenge product ahead of the second annual curling tournament.

The Sweep 16 is a free-to-play bracket challenge that invites participants to predict the brackets for both the men’s and women’s teams of the 2023 PointsBet Invitational.

There is a grand prize of up to $1m available for fans that are successful in correctly guessing all 30 matches of the single-elimination event.

Nic Sulsky, PointsBet Canada CCO, said, “Last year’s inaugural PointsBet Invitational was a resounding success on the ice, and The Sweep 16 bracket challenge brought the audience engagement to a new level.

“The top-notch SSG team manages everything from beginning to end, which allows us to focus on delivering the audience.

“Our combined success last year meant we could create a platform that mirrored our branding and provided a superior user experience again this year.”

The invitational will start on 27 September and run until 1 October at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario.

Fans are invited to complete their Sweep 16 bracket challenge entry before the pucks hit the ice on the first day.

Nolan Thiessen, Curling Canada Executive Director of Marketing & Fan Experience, said: “The inaugural PointsBet Invitational was a huge success and we’re excited to build on that momentum with our partners PointsBet by once again offering the opportunity for a fan to use their curling knowledge to win a major prize.

“As we saw at last year’s event, the PointsBet Invitational is difficult to predict and we’re bound to see upsets on the ice again later this month.”

In other news, Fanatics launched its sportsbook using PointsBet technology earlier this summer.
